Redondo on Tuesday PM....30-40 ft
Owen Beach on Weds AM....40+ ft
That was the least of my problems that day. I if it wasn't for the awsome dive and the great dive buddy that was there, cardiver wrote:Yeah.....I hate when buddies cancel!

To clarify.........
I cannot stress enough that this is MY PROBLEM.
Hmm, makes me think... Did a dive yesterday at Rockaway Beach, Bainbridge Island. Went on high tide. Wind was kicking and water was choppy. Visibility 2 to 5 feet. Did not change AT all even at 60 feet. Now that you mention different stuff growing, makes me think. This was definitely NOT the stuff that Bob and I found at Cove 2 about 3 weeks ago. My skin is itching like crazy today. Some nice stuff to see (if you could see it) but not a very enjoyable dive.dsteding wrote: Different stuff growing now, almost like a red tide as opposed to the stringy snot we were diving in a week ago.
Thanks Bob.... That was what I thought, and exactly the insight I was looking for.Grateful Diver wrote:It goes in cycles throughout the summer. A week and a half ago the water was thick with algae "snot" ... and vis was terrible. Then the snot died and vis cleared up for a few days ... I went out last Wednesday at Redondo and it was spectactular. By the week-end it was returning to "normal". Now we'll get another algae bloom and go through another cycle.
When the algae starts looking like big clumps of snot in the water, clear your calendar for a few days hence so you can take advantage of the good vis ... it doesn't usually last more than three or four days at a time ...

We need some sort of diver alert system for this. Smokey the Bear tells me the fire danger level, why can't we have a mascot that gives the daily snot report?I'll keep a full tank of gas and my gear in the car if I can get reliable snot predictions.

True for the most part, but I still haven't found a better "finger on the pulse" of NW diving than this site.airsix wrote:But it doesn't work when the Tuesday report comes in on Friday! ](*,)Tom Nic wrote:Got one! It's called Northwest DiveClub!!
