Diving. . . is an active physical form of meditation. It is so silent- You're like a thought.

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR
ANYTHING, BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE
STAIRS.

According to her Facebook page (I told you it was useful), she's headed for the Olympic Peninsula for a REEF survey, I think. Happy birthday and happy diving!

Happy happy happy! I usually give the greeting written for Pooh on the pot he gave Eeyore:

HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDA THUTHDA BTHUTHDY

If I had a sixgill, I'd give it to you for a present. But the closest thing I have is this incredible Swell Shark, Cephaloscyllium ventriosum, that we found on a night dive at the Monterey Breakwater last night. Enjoy!

There are lots more pix of him, as well as loads of other stuff we saw on that dive, at http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/bb13 ... 208-17-08/ It's not a sixgill, but it's my gift to you :notworthy:

As a critter guy I have in the back of my brain a card I saw. Hippo. Then two birds. Then two female sheepies. Then they all form a chorus line singing "Hippo Birdie Two Ewes!" etc. etc.

Happy birthday Janna!

Hey all, thanks VERY much!! I just now saw this thread! (not bad...almost a week later...duh!)

Just got back late last night from being gone this past week out with Mike Ferguson, Scott Boyd and the REEF Advanced Assessment Team on the Porthole Charters boat in Neah Bay. Spent my birthday doing three dives: Sekiu Jetty, Slant Rock, and Box Canyon. And then spent the remainder of the week diving all the other very cool spots out there.

One of the coolest things was getting to FINALLY see Silverspotted Sculpin and a Tubenose Poacher on a night dive at Sekiu Jetty! One of the uncoolest things was that I forgot I had put a very small sized memory card in my camera by mistake, and ran out of memory after only 5 shots!! So no photos of them (yeah, yeah) but I have the memory in my own brain at least!

After 12 dives in 5 days, I gotta say I'm bushed, but happy! Can't think of a better way to have spent my 50th than on that boat doing what I love doing :)

Thanks for the SWELL present, Dave! And Tom, that Hippo Birdie Two Ewes has been one of my favorites for about 20 years now...it's a Sandra Boynton classic! And Doug, I WILL eat my M&M's! In fact, BiodiversityGuy (David) fed me some almond ones every time I got a BIRD sighting correct. (he's an avid birder)

No Sixgills, but maybe someday....

- Janna :)
