The ones in the first picture are female sponge eualids, Eualus butleri, and the green color is indeed developing ovary. The striped ones in the second picture are probably pygmy eualids, Eualus subtilis.

Very cool pictures, and neat critters, but I swear you just post the Puget Sound King Crab pictures to rub my nose in them :)

One of these days, I'll see one . . .

Go to Port Hardy, Lynne ... you can't not see one there.

Honestly, dunno why they're called Puget Sound King Crab ... I've seen them just about everywhere except Puget Sound ...

Let's take the boat out one day in February and I'll show you some. I believe the quote was "I'd be looking at one and more would just start falling on my head - like, out of no where!!"

If that little fellow in my pic fell on your head, you probably wouldn't even notice ... he's about the size of your thumbnail.

Thanks, Loretta ...

BTW - I'm thinking to upgrade to a new camera. Anybody around here use a G9?

Had one. hated it. Got another Casio.
I thought it was great as a land camera but I had HUGE problems with vignetting doing macro work, Bob. If you use a strobe you probably wont have the issues that I had.

Bob if your looking at the G9 why not just make the jump to the G-10 I understand the G-9 has some issues although they dropped the RAW format with the G-10 so if your looking for that you may have to stay with the G9. My big issue with the G series and the A650 is that Ikelite went way big with the cases for these two and the G-10 also plus the g10 ikelite case will set you back more than 100 bucks more than the g-9 case. The case dims for these are 6"X 6" X 7" and they come with a tray and handle attached so if you want to use a strobe you will have to spring for Ikelite's mount or do a bit of mod work. Thankfully the Canon cases are under $200 and way smaller.

You might want to read the stevesdigicams reviews before locking into which model to buy.

this article mentions that the G10 has raw:

edit:

also on the canon site:

"Full range of shooting and recording modes including RAW + JPEG for the ultimate creative control."

Everyone is asking that question??? My guess is they came up with a new DIGIC 4 image processor and my bet is they had an issue with compatability.

Here is a good review to read.

I may have been wrong on that. This review sez it still has RAW plus several other enhancements can't remember where I read the other review that said they had droped RAW. It may have been an early review done on a pre production camera

Even the Canon case is large. The lens port is huge and that's what causes all of the problems with vignetting that I had.
Ikelite is not planning on making a housing for the G10 that will accept different ports from what I've read in the manufacturer's forum over on ScubaBoard. I copied the following statement from the IkeLite rep....

Wide angle options are limited by the "throw" of the lens (total physical travel distance through zoom range) and the widest angle setting. Even just holding an external threaded lens up to the camera's lens, you have to zoom so much to avoid vignetting that you effectively eliminate any widening of angle of coverage.

We are investigating other wide angle options, possibly an optional dome port with or without an internal wide angle lens. No additional information is available right now.

External macro lenses cannot be added, as the lens port is too large to offer a 67mm thread. Unfortunately the port is also too large to accept one of our removable UR/Pro filters.

We are making our best effort to offer as many options as possible with this camera without making the housing cost prohibitive. This is one of those instances where seemingly minor camera changes translate to big problems in the realm of underwater photography!!!

I have an idea ... let's take this to another thread in the appropriate forum ... because I've got a few more angles to explore ...
