Re: Bandito lawsuit?
I was at Pt Defiance that day when Rick pulled in. Rick had already called emergency services and the EMT's were there at the dock waiting. The crew was providing CPR when they pulled in , continuing until the EMT's took over. Has to be a very tough situation to deal with , in my opinion Rick handle...

Re: Kauai Diving Recommendations?
Thur we did the Na Pali coast trip with Bubbles Below, 2 dives on a reef structure called Mana Crack with lots of varied life including some rare species of coral, during the surface interval we also got a tour of the Na Pali coast. Fri we headed to Niihau for 3 dives, one word spectacular. It is a ...

Re: Kauai Diving Recommendations?
Over here right now. Took our pony bottles to Seasport for fills and after the questions and confused looks from the staff just didn't feel comfortable with them so we went out with Fathom Five instead since we have used them in the past. We've done dives with both Bubbles Below and Fathom Five. The...

Re: Clean buoy at Flagpole
A inexpensive putty knife cleans the lines well without damaging them. We've been cleaning the lines at Zee's ' , Sunrise and Saltwater for a while now. Janna I've been told the buoys at the Possesion Points Ferry need some attention. We haven't had a good opportunity to get up that way yet this year.

Diamond Knot
Got in two nice dives on the Diamond Knot some with my friends Connie, Bryan and Justin, first trip out there this year. Weather was awesome with flat water and sunshine all day. Passed by several schools of pink salmon boiling and jumping on the surface on the way out in the morning. The wreck is d...

Re: GPO Input needed!
I was at Les Davis DM'ing a class that day. But that diver and his partner brought the octopus out of the water in a game bag. When it was politely explained to him that it was a tacky thing to do during the middle of the day while there were dive classes going on and that since he owned a boat he n...

Re: GPO Input needed!
As to the catch record it was suggested by the group. The additional costs for a catch record & enforcement costs to WDFW were cited as a couple of reasons why it is probably not fiscally feasible to have add more lines to the catch record (it is already long enough). It was also pointed out tha...

Re: GPO Input needed!
I am on the advisory group and I agree the option B came out of left field compared to what was discussed. Hopefully some of the wording and sites can be amended. There is a workshop on the 24th at the Seattle Aquarium that I would encourage people to attend. The sites that are already listed as MPA...

Diving south sound 4/18
Just got the day off tomorrow and plan on diving where ever I can anchor or tie to a buoy in the south sound area. No particular location or schedule in mind yet just want to get out and dive. Got space available on the boat if someone has the day off , just PM.

KVI & Saltwater 4-14
Spent Sunday diving KVI & Saltwater, vis was maybe 15-20ft. Saltwater never disappoints with the variety of rockfish and the large lingcod , although I noted the fish populations at KVI definitely seemed lower than I remember. Also could not find any octopus at KVI even though I located several ...

Zee's Reef & Sunrise 4/7
Went out to Zee's Reef & Sunrise yesterday. Vis was 15-20ft at both sites , noted a complete absence of any octopus at Zee's Reef and only one wolf eel , several large lingcod and quite a few rockfish. Sunrise had 3 octopus and a couple of wolf eels. Added a stiff bristle brush on a short line t...

Tacoma Narrows 3/22-3/23
Dive the east side of the Tacoma Narrows last night and this morning. Last night was nice with 20-30ft vis, we had a large harbor seal swimming in and out of our lights most of the dive. At the anchor blocks under the bridge a school of larger than average black rockfish ,several spawning starfish. ...

Re: Galloping Gertie 12/30
We were diving the west side of the Narrows in 150ft of water about 300ft from the west bridge stanchion. You can find a fair amount of bridge girders and road deck there if you go west from there you can find debris from the construction of the new bridge. Mostly excess cable, cable ties and a ladd...

Galloping Gertie 12/30
Finished off the dive year today with a dive on Galloping Gertie with Bryan McLean. Started and finished the dive on old bridge debris for the entire dive. Vis was around 30ft until my primary light failed 3 minutes into the dive and I had to finish the dive on my backup light. Still found quite a f...

Tacoma Narrow 12-23
Spent the day diving the Tacoma Narrows with Bryan & Shane. Started out at Pt. Defiance West Wall , vis was around 30ft with a little milkiness to the water , mostly a structure dive although Bryan came across a octopus camouflaged and out in the open. Second dive was at MM8 where Shane & my...

Re: Custom Dive Boat Ladder......Help
I would second Scott's recommendation for Zeiglers. They
made the ladders on both of my boats and they work well
with doubles and you get to keep your fins on. Follow Scott's
recommendation and space your steps 10-12 inches. Made my
second ladder 5ft long which works a lot better in rougher water.

That would make for a good trip especially if you caught good conditions. Looks alot like Duncan Rock in Neah Bay.

Re: East Stanchion 10-25-12
I usually decend down the stanchion then cross to the east to the anchor blocks and then further to the east into the shallows to off gas. You can also go in just under the bridge at slack then head west to the anchor blocks and return back to the east, that allows you to choose your overall depth p...

East Stanchion 10-25-12
Dove the East Stanchion during the morning slack in the Tacoma Narrows today. Vis was around 40ft had slack current almost the entire dive. Found a GPO out in the open and very friendly. Bottom time limited the stay with the GPO , we then moved shallower to the anchor blocks & old road deck wher...

Dalco Wall 11-24-12
Went out to Dalco Wall yesterday afternoon for a fun dive with some friends. Saw several large sea lions in the Narrows feeding. Caught the slack water around 1:30 , even managed to catch a little bit of reversing current that made the return back to the boat a drifting ride. Vis was at least 30-40f...
