Nice. Thanks JDR!

So do I understand correctly that I wouldn't need to actually go to the office to get a permit, just call? That makes life much easier as getting to Edmonds during normal gov't business hours can sometimes be challenging.

No worries, had all my gear in the truck, so just thought I'd see if anyone was diving friday. Not sure what my schedule is yet this week, but thursday looks promising.

Permits

JDR,

How easy is it to obtain a night diving permit? Is it something you just walk in and get, or is it something that takes time (as with most gov't "permit")? Do they charge for it? I think night diving the park would be fun.

I believe at NWSD regular price is $10 NITROX Fills, $12 NITROX rentals.

That's pretty much the only place i get fills anymore.

Permits

I would bet that if you called the edmond UWS they would be able to tell you about the permits. They supply free air to those participating in weekend maintenance dives at the park.

Thanks Amy.

I think I'm going to work on some research this winter, maybe look into doing a class this spring. Do you know what he uses for a text book? Does PADI have a seperate Altitude diver text? Thanks to everyone for the help.

My cold hasn't kicked yet, so I won't be able to join you guys this week, but I'm in for a T-dock dive next week. Anybody want to dive the park if the tides look good?

Thanks Valerie. I'll see if I can find a copy of the PADI book somewhere. Wonder if I can find one on EBAY? My NAUI AOW book didn't doesn't seem to have anything. Will they let me just buy the book if I'm not enrolled in a class?

Altitude Diving

So after trying and failing to find an altitude specialty class locally, I've decided on the self study method of learning to dive at altitude. I figured there may be some transplants around from some of the more elevated states that are familiar with diving at altitude who can give me some pointers...

I've seen fireman's full face masks where they had a pair of prescriptions glasses (without the earpieces) clipped inside them. I wonder if anyone make a SCUBA FFM with a similar clip device?

On a day with decent vis, it can be quite a cool dive. If the vis is bad, it's hard to see what all is there. Lots of shools of fish around using it as cover from the bigger fish, lots of starfish and crab hanging out on the pilings. I was there a few months ago, and the bottom was litterally crawli...

Sounds like we've got three! Anyone else?

It's a small exchange, so diving the T-dock should be no problem. If anybody is comfortable with a little bit of current, doing the park wouldn't be bad either. I'll probably be down there around 4:30 or so. Only doing one tank this week.

Well, Squatch and I had a good dive last night. Vis wasn't the best, but not EUP bad. I learned how to launch wine bottles from depth, and got to practice some search and recovery techniques. #-o It was good to meet some of you guys and put some faces with screen names. Next time, maybe we'll dive t...
